It seems that different treatment options have different effects on people, even if they have similar symptomology.
The only treatment option which is purely evidence-based seems to be the antibiotic treatment I previously received. However, it's often (or usually) not entirely effective, as in my case.
My sister Roze (in Canada) has been seeing a local doctor who focuses on natural-based, individually customised interventions.
From my understanding, the advantage to this over antibiotics is the positive impact it has on your immune system while killing the bacteria - as opposed to antibiotic treatment which supresses immune systems.
As we were making plans for me to go, I received a phone call with an offer to pay for the entirety of treatment. The cost of flights, accommodation and food have also generously been covered.
We're totally stoked to have this opportunity, and a chance for me to get better entirely. We're exceptionally grateful for the ridiculous generosity we have experienced from family and friends.
I'll be in Canada for an 8 week treatment period (another 4 weeks left), during which I'll have weekly appointments, with medication adjustments being made according to changes in my levels.
So far, I feel like I'm improving, with increased brain clarity and energy. It's still early days though, as treatment should begin to settle within 4-6 weeks.
Thanks for sticking with us through this!
